It took just over 18 months to design our rebuild and get permits approved.
Meanwhile we worked to clean the site. Initially, we had hoped that we could use some of the old home. But aside from a few retaining walls and the cisterns nothing was salvageable. Even the driveways will be repaired. However, much of the new home will be built on the original footprint using the existing excavation. We are adding a “pod” which will hold a new master and guest room. This is something we had always hoped to do when we retired but now we will be able to enjoy it before retirement!
Construction began early in the summer 2019 and we headed down in late July to see the progress. It was wonderful to see our new plans taking shape. And the views and sunsets were still as beautiful as ever.
